DHCP weirdness

I've been running ASL since v3, and everything's always worked fine. While still running 5.x, my DHCP server died one day. I tried starting and stopping, etc, and couldn't get it to start again. Ended up just moving to statics at the time cause I didn't have the time to troubleshoot.

Last week upgraded to 6.x, and the problem persists. The weird thing is that if I change the DHCP settings (range, whatever) and start/stop, the original settings come back! Is there a way I can blow out the config and start anew? I tried changing the dhcpd.conf in the chroot and that gets reset too (by mdw?).
