dhcp problem with wireless access point

hi there...

i´m not sure if this is the right forum to ask, correct me if nessesary.

i have a asl 6 (newest) with 4 nics.
1x internet connection
1x internal lan
1x dmz for my debian maschine
1x preserved for wireless things

now i bought a wireless access point (3com 3crgpoe10075) and connected it via crossover to the desired lanport.
everything works fine, clients can connect, i just can´t figure it out to get the dhcp-server to work.
in general i work with static ip mappings (locked on mac-adresses), in my internal lan it works like a charm. ut just through ASL -> 3COM AP -> CLIENTS it doesn´t work!!

i have no idea why??

static mappings are definded, the ap gets its ip from dhcp, everything ok. but no client can grab one...

anybody any idea?

On the cisco's you have to tell the AP to forward the DHCP requests. Guess theres something similar on the 3Com.

i know what an dhcpra is, but usualy it has to listen on the interface which is "near" to the dhcp-server. then it relays the dhcp-pakets to the other interface.
but in this 3com box theres no such service or anything similar.

could you give me 1 more hint?

Can you set the AP to bridge mode?
If so, then you have have ASL be the DHCP server.
