QOS i dont understand it...

Hi all,

sorry, i read the Post about QOS but i think my english is to bad. I dont understand what to do!

I want to set up a Rule for SAPGui. In Austria we have our SAP Servers, in Germany we have the Clients. I want to make sure, min 512 is reserved for this. I Have a symetric 2 MBit Line.


So und nun noch in deutsch, bitte also auch hilfe in deutsch wenns geht.

Also ich möchte, dass 1/4 der Bandbreite für SAP reserviert wird. Wie kann ich das mit QOS machen? Ich blicke das leider wirklich nicht :-(

    You cannot reserve a specific amount of bandwidth in QoS at the moment, you can only weight it to "high" priority in the packet filter rules.

    In ver 6, you could have two internet connections, and route the SAP reports via 1 and then have the other traffic sticking to the spare connection?

    Simon, I appologize for pluging here but, do you know if that will work for VoIP traffic ?

    We're planning on having an Asterisk PBX installed here and I will need to way to make sure there is always enough bandwidth for VoIP traffic. Since there is no plan on running another IP connection, I will have to make do with what we have (hopefully, a 2 megabyte simetrical connection if plenty enough for a 25-people office).

    Setting VoIP traffic to "High" priority in QoS will work fine for your Asterisk PBX.

    To simplify your firewall issues, I recommend using the SIP protocol on your LAN, but using the IAX protocol instead of SIP on Internet trunk connections.
