Intrusion Protection disabled.

I have had to disable IP because asl crashes after about 1 hour and needs rebooting. I think that it is something to do with bit torrent connections and the IP system doesn't like it. What effect will having this disabled have on the security system as a whole? I would like to enable it but it just crashes the system?

what are your system specs and what version of astaro? I run BT through ASL 5 here w/o issue.

The version of ASL is the latest downloaded. It is version 5. Do you think that I'll be alright leaving IP off?

You can. What hardware are you running? I run Bt through mine all the time without issue.

So what within IP could cause the machine to stick and loose complete internet activity after about 2 hours?

Two DLink nic - celeron 533 and 128 edo ram. I have read the notice about the incompatible DLink cards and tried two 3coms as reccomended. Made now difference - still stopped working after about 2 hours and still worked OK when IP was disabled?

128 megs ram? for v5 you relaly need 256 at least. you can run with ips off. I would increase ram to 256 and then try ips again..[:)]
