Error in definition of network

Because i can´t define this ?

192.168.30.0 /22

the error is this:

  "One of the parameters for the definition is syntactically or logically invalid"


In this definition, i englobe: 192.168.28.0/24
                                             192.168.29.0/24
                                             192.168.30.0/24
                                             192.168.31.0/24


With other systems (fortinet and netscreen), i haven´t problems for define this.....

What is the problem ?

    When you use a 22 bit netmask, instead of the standard 24 bit netmask normally used for class "C" networks, you are configuring the third octet for one of 64 networks containing 1024 addresses, rather than one of 256 networks containing 256 addresses. This means that the third octet in the IP address has to be one of the following numbers:
    0. 4, 8, 12, 16, 20, 24, 28, 32, 36, 40, 44, 48, etc. up to 252

    You can not start a 1024 address subnet on 30 in the third octet, since that is right in the middle of a block of 1024 addresses.

    In other words, everything is working as it should, but it appears that you don't know your IP subnetting well enough to be using non standard address masks. The URL below will take you to an IP subnet calculator. You will see that if you input 192.168.30.0 with a 255.255.252.0 netmask, then the start address of your network will automatically become 192.168.28.0

    Unless you really need a LAN with 1024 addresses, why bother with a 22 bit netmask in the first place?  I would suggest that you stick with a 24 bit netmask, which will give you a standard 256 address class "C" network.
