Broadcast storm crashes firewall

I have a client that has an ASL firewall between their DMZ and private network.  Twice in the past year or so they have had a server do a broadcast storm.  This in part then crashes the ASL servers.  Any idea on how we can prevent the crash??

Thanks

  • Maybe the packetlogs were getting too big?

If so, try creating a DROP rule for the traffic in question.

    e.g.
From ANY, Service ANY (or whatever service you need) to DMZ Broadcast address, DROP
From ANY, Service ANY (or whatever service you need) to INT Broadcast address, DROP
