wake-on-lan with astaro v5

Hello,

for WOL is directed broadcast necessary. Can ASL do this?

We have two broadcast domains separated by ASL without a router. We have to wake on clients from the one domain within the other broadcast domain.

Thanks,
zenit

  • I didn't find the solution I was looking for (broadcast forwarding), but luckly the Intel Pro/1000 MT NIC in the machine I'm needing to wake-up remotely supports "Wake on Ping."  (Thank you Intel!)

This works out great since "ping" packets are TCP/IP based and can be routed.

I'm still interested in broadcast forwarding for some other applications like browsing the network (as I'm not currently running a WINS server).
  • You might want to look at bridged mode.
