handling dns in the dmz

Do you guys run multiple firewalls at your location and if so how do you handle dns? I mean do you just enter the ip address of the providers dns servers? What if you are doing things such as setting up frontend backend exchange servers where the frontend server is in the dmz would you need to have a dns server on the dmz network at that point? I guess I'm trying to ask what all ways should dns be resolved in a dmz?

    A local DNS is often on the Internal LAN for use by workstations;
    the DMZ mailserver can access the ISP's DNS server (with a restrictive rule).

    The internal DNS can be a forwarder configuration that uses Astaro's DNS proxy.
