Newbie question??

I am new to this level of computing.  I saw that astaro has a VPN server build in and wanted to use it.  My network is setup as followed.
cable modem
linksys wireless router
astaro box

through the router i also have other computers setup.  I am not really using astaro on as a firewall at the moment but may not want to use it later.  I i think i have the correct ports forwarded (47, 1723) for the VPN on linksys router.  I also have pptp passthrough on the router.  I followed the how to doc for PPTP VPN setup in the documentation setion.  Whenever i try to connect to the VPN it get remote host not responding.  Any help will be great.  Thanks everyone

    [/ QUOTE ]I used to have a setup like that, back when I first set up my Astaro firewall. After six weeks, I removed the Linksys router and sold it to a friend. With Astaro in place, there wasn't any point in keeping the Linksys.

    [/ QUOTE ]With ports 47 and 1723 individually forwarded in through the Linksys router, you should turn off the router's PPTP passthrough feature. It is probably interfering.

    The simplest approach to get VPN access working reliably and quickly, is to put the Linksys router back into the box it came in, and just use Astaro as your firewall and  VPN service endpoint.
