IPS not dropping AIM....

Guys, I've just installed ASL5.x and I have all of the updates. I have turned on the IPS and set it to drop all "chat" packets.

Testing from one of my machines, I cannot log into MSN Messenger, which is GREAT! However, I can log into AOL Instant Messenger with no problem at all.

Has anyone had any similar issues, or resolutions to this?

You could try to drop ALL traffic to the AIM servers with a packetfilter rule.
They have a lot of servers though, so it may be hard.

I think AIM will use port 80 if it can't find another way out; if it is you could try to set the http proxy to block it. (assuming you're using the proxy in Transparent mode; block TCP connects or whatever, but AIM may use GET instead.)

nod it jjsut got blocked and is dead. I had to give it about 5 minutes to kick in and kill the packets. AIM is dead.
