Fail over for Web Server

Hi everyone,

i'm using ASL 5.16 with 3 NICs (1 external, 1 LAN, 1 DMZ). in my DMZ i have a public web server and the routing to them works fine.

now i want to add a second server who has one website with a message like "the web server is not present for a moment".

then a need a roule in the ASL that checks if the web server is down and route the incoming traffic to the second server till the web server is alive again.

has anyone a good idea how i can add this roule ?

    You can't do that with ASL, it only has rudimentary Round Robin load balancing for servers. It doesn't have a mechanism to check if one server is down etc.

    You would need to use loadbalancing either an appliance or software (its availble for both windows and *nix boxen)
