(Passive) FTP Howto

I have a major Problem with FTP. All our FTP servers seem to disconnect after some time.

the ftp servers are in a DMZ. the traffic is DNATted from an IP Alias to the DMZ - IP. In the paket filter there are also appropirate rule sets to allow FTP / FTP-Control to the designated DMZ - IP.

But usually, after transferring alot of small files, the FTP Server doesn't respond anymore, and the client has to reconnect.

Is my configuration correct, or does anyone have a step-by-stop guide, how to make this work?

AliG8r,

in case you are on version 4 your problem may be related to portccan eetection. Try to exclude your FTP server.

Thanks for your input. Portscan detection is desabled. But it still won't work.

I am having the same problem but on version 5.026 and In my case files never get downloaded completely.The server just stops responding and client never gets terminated on its own.

Does anyone know how to solve this problem?
