Routing PUBLIC IPs via Astaro. Proxy ARP ?

I am going to be assigned 16 public IPs by my ISP.
I have control of my router and am wondering what the best way to go is ?
I used to config Cisco routers for leased lines for a living, and like the way we used to do it there...
The LAN port of the router and the WAN port of the F/W are given PRIVATE (eg 192.168...) addresses and the PUBLIC IPs are routed by the router via the 192.168 address of the Firewall.
This means you dont have to waste any of the public IPs on a network between the router and f/w
I used to use ASL a year or two back and couldnt get it working with my old ISP  mainly because I didnt have control of the router and they assigned a public IP to it's ethernet port [:(]Ps...
But now I want to do it once I get my IPs, I take it this should be easy with ASL ?

    there are two possibilies to use your IP addresses. First is to assign them all as aliases on the external interface and to use them in conjunction with DNAT/SNAT. Second possibility would be to setup a 30 bit network between the router and your firewall and create a DMZ using the remaining addresses - this way you only loose 4 IP adresses.

    I got my IPs today, did it EXACTLY as I said and it worked.

    I have an EN 5861 Router with a LAN IP of 192.168.254.254 and NAT OFF (Yes OFF)

    My ASL box Eth1 (Ext) is set to 192.168.254.253 with Proxy ARP ON.
    Eth0 is set to the first IP of my Public IP range. (80.229.192.145)

    I had to add a route in my router to route the whole block of public IPs via 192.168.254.253
    eg: ip route add eth 80.229.192.144 255.255.255.240 192.168.254.253 1

    Yay for me ! I rock !

    oops, Proxy ARP does not need to be on, silly me.
    I cannot understand why this setup is not the default one people use when they have control of thier router.
    I shudder to think all the IPs that are being wasted around the world with people not knowing what they are doing wasting them for transitory networks.
    Maybe we wouldn't need IPv6 if they knew...
