IIS FTP keeps disconnecting after a while

hi,
i'm having a problem with ftp-servers that are behing an astaro.  I'm using astaro v.5.012 with 3 nics, one for the internet and the other 2 for different internal networks.  When I try to connect to one of the FTP-servers that are on the internal network from the internet, the initial communication is set up well, but only after a few minutes the connection is terminated and i have to start all over again. I'm using NAT to address the internal servers.  When i connect through a VPN-tunnel and then connect the ftp-servers (or if I connect directly from the internal network) this is not the case, everything works perfect.  So I guess it has something to do with the firewall... Anyone?
thx,
Tim.

  • IIS does not do passive ftp transfers well..which will be problematic behind many firewalls.  The workaround is what you idid..install another ftp server that can readily handle passive ftp transfers.
