Linking Static IP to external interface?

Hello,

I have purchased two static IPs from my ISP.  I have Astaro version 4 (w/ the latest up2date packets applied).  I have been unable to successfully connect to my web server from the outside.  I have followed the instructions in this booklet closely: WebServer_DNAT_Guidebook.pdf.  

My question is this: "Even if I did not have my setup correct in Astaro shouldn't I still see some traffic destined for either of my two static IP addresses show up in my logs if my ISP has linked the static IPs to the MAC address of the external interface on my Astaro box?"  I have never seen either address show up as a destination address in any of my logs.  After a month I thought I should.    I have tried running portscans against my static IPs but only the scan I ran against the IP address of my cable modem showed up in any of the logs.

I am trying to figure out the best place to begin troubleshooting.

    Hi stella, 
    no it depends how the ISP is sending the traffic towards your interface.

    But i assume that you need to add 'Alias interfaces' on your External interface, to make sure that the interface feels itself responsible to anwser the ARP requests for those two additional ip addreses.

    Once that is done, you can easily use DNAT to forward certain connection to the inside.
