Understanding Portscan Email?? Help Please

can someone please tell me what this means? the source ip is from my internal network?

    Someone did a portscan on IP: 24.27.207.xxx. That's all.

    why would someone do that? is this comming from a virus or trojan etc.... is this somethign which i should be concerned about? i have gotten 50 emails from the firewall about this allready?
