Fast down speed, dreadful up speed

Let me add some more information.  First of all, my up speed, according to speedtests at www.dslreports.com, averages between 900 and 1000.  Last night the best I could do was 132, but it was averaging somewhere around 77.

QoS is not enabled on any NIC, and no special QoS rules (I think) are established.  I have in the packet filter, as the top rule, 

Source: any, Service: any, Action: Allow, Destination: Any, Logging: yes

I have the following rule setup in NAT for outbound masquerading traffic:

Match Pattern: Internal (Network) -> All / All, SRC Translation:  MASQ__Internet   

My LAN NIC is defined as "Internal", and the WAN interface is defined as "Internet".

Finally, I checked the traffic graphs to see if something was running on my network eating up bandwidth, but outbound traffic was little or none, with the exception of when I ran the speed tests.

is this on all machines or jsut one macine?

   I ran the same speedtest from my Linux box, and I received the same crappy up speed.  This time it made it to a wopping 136.  The down speed was 5251.  Those are in kbps.

then i bet it is a problem with your cable line or your local node is overloaded.  Are you in CT by any chance?

Tenafly, NJ on Optimum Online.  OK, I'm going to call Cablevision.

yes i can..bit torrent open your machine up to sharing..and will not allow you to download without a good upload.  When you used bit torrent they saw that and dropped the hammer.  Cablevision is known for this and it is one of their network terms of service.  Next time i would advise ftp..[[:)]]  I ahve to admit i thought the node was overloaded but when you said they slapped the cap on you i knew what it was..check the cablevision forums on dslreports.,com..[[:)]]

Ya know, I don;t blame them for what they did, because I would have done the same in reverse.  Oh well.
