how to login from ttyS0

I try to login ASL from ttyS0, serial console RS232 interface by Hyperterminal. I made every steps according to the manual A4, it can show: "host.domain.com ttyS0 login:", I don't sure I should imput which username: admin, root, loginuser or other. I tried a lot of times using these username, but I still can't login. When I input the username and click "enter", it would be frozen, stop at "host.domain.com ttyS0 login: loginuser. It can't show more. so pls help me to solve the question, thank you very much. [:S]

Maybe you have to change the settings of your serial port.

Yes, I've changed serial port's setting, but I can't login.
Can you tell me if you can login through serial console?

It worked for me on 4; what version are you using? If it is 5, maybe something else needs to be set up.

Play with the flow control settings in your hardware and terminal software (though frankly, I cannot imagine that being the problem over such a measly amount of packets...).

Try COMPLETELY different terminal software (maybe even using another OS); an ANSI display escape sequence (bold, whatever) could be confusing your terminal emulator software.

If that's what it was, then you can look at what has to be done with the terminal software...

I used version 4. Can you tell me how you make the serial console to work? You used what kind of terminal software.I just use Hyperterminal. I think my setting is right, or the login prompt can't appear. but I don't know I should input what username and what password. when I input a username and click "enter", the system will be frozen, it hasn't any reply to me no matter how I click "enter". pls help me. [:S]
