bandwidth gone crazy!

hi all!

i've got a v4 box i manage thats sat in front of a couple of hosting boxes. its on a 100mbit circuit and recently the bandwidth has gone sky high.

i'd like to limit the bandwidth for one of the IPs behind the box to maybe 2-3mbit.

heres the usage lately of the external interface  http://www.nuqe.net/misc/bw-thursday.jpg 

are there any howto's, tips or hints? i dont mind adding a rule manually to iptables if need be.

    the only way you can do this is at your switch.  ASL 4 cannot control incoming usage as you request.  A good switch can rate limit howeverjust like you want it to.

    its not incoming bandwidth i want to control, its outgoing.

    the switch would have to be a layer 3 one too if i was to be able to control bandwidth on it. lots of layer 2 ones can do per port limiting, but not per IP.

    i only wish to throttle one ip behind the astaro box, the rest can use as much as they like.

    HI there, 

    with the qos functionliaty you can limit the upstream bandwidth of your firewall.
    Not really per ip. but per total.

    would that help?
