FTP Connection - newbie question

Hello there,

I'm using ASL V5.07, it's my first time configuring this kind of firewall.

Everything works nearly fine, but I can't connect to external FTP Servers. It always says " no connection". What am I doing wrong. 

My Packet Filter Rules are - external-any-internal - 
and my nat rules are:
Internal (Network) -> All / All   MASQ__external   None 
and external (Address) -> external (Address) / POP3   None   "my mailserver"

Is there anything special I have to do.

    That was what I tried in between, but didn't work anyhow. maybe it's a DNS problem ??

    I have a win 2k server running and dns server works there.
    just an idea, but I'm a little bit confused by now.

    Anything else to try ??

    You say    My Packet Filter Rules are - external-any-internal - 

       Is this a typo?  Should be Internal-any-external?

    Have you tried creating a rule for that ftp server.  eg.

       internal-ftp-ftpserver Allow 

    If it is an internal ftp server that you want to see from outside you will need to create a DNAT and then add a packet filter rule.  There are Astaro docs on how to do this
