here what i got updating my ASL V4.021 to 5.004:
HW: PII 400MHz, 256MB RAM, 15GB HDD, 3 NIC's 1x 3C905B, 2x 3C905C.
1st try:
- install ASL 5.001
- tried up2date to v5.004, no way, up2date ist not active without license key
- restored backup from v4.021, seemd to work
- up2date still not active
- input license key v5, webadmin hangs, no error, but page could not be found message from IE 6
- surfing, emailing,... seemed to work but no access to webadmin
- reboot
- waitet 10 mins, because of the posts here that webadmin is slow, no go
2nd try:
- install ASL 5.001
- input license key v5
- webadmin again away, blank page
- ping firewall, no response, after about 2 mins ping response
- login again trough webadmin
- up2date to 5.004
- restored backup from v 4.021 (slow)
- webadmin again away
- ping firewall, no response, after about 2 mins ping response
- login again trough webadmin
- changed webadmin port, again webadmin away for about 2 mins (i know that it is away, but not for 2 mins)
- Packet filter -> rules, my importet rules had no "rule order number" all rules had the rule number 0, so no way to order it the right way
- the rules where not in the same order like in asl v4.021
- made a new rule leaving the other rules and boom, all rules had now a rule order number, but not in the order like in v4.021
against other posts in this forum my NIC's where recogniced the same like in ASL v4.021, I don't had to switch them or search for wich is now the internal or so.
webadmin is slow, much slower then in v4.
vpn tunnels works
in packet filter -> rules, i think it's better when first comes destination and then action
in v4 network and service groups had {groupname}, this way it was easier to see what is a group and what not
looking of v 5 is good and better to handle
so, now it's 2:30 am and i'm tired,
i will do more tests in the next days to see if all works like in v4.0021
