Bandwidth Shaping

I'm trying to set up QOS so that Vonage doesn't break up during a conversation and there's uploading on a nother location.

Here are my entries for QOS:

Vonage_ATA  Any  External_Interface__  high  borrow
Xbox  Any  External_Interface__  medium  borrow 
Web_Mail_Server  { DMZ Services } External_Interface__  low  borrow
PC1  Any  External_Interface__  low  borrow

and the advanced settings are set to max BW 230Kbps (256Kbps cable) and saved BW to 1 (couldn't enter 0)...MTU 1500.

Do these settings look OK?

    Could you try creating a multi-port service and see if it appears on the drop-down list for QOS?  I just wan too see if it's just me or an Astaro issue...

    I created a service called HIGHPORT, source ports 1024:65535, destination ports 1024:65535.

    My HIGHPORT service does NOT show up in the pick list in QoS, but all my prior single port service definitions do show up there.

    So, Blueorder, you were correct all along, you are not going crazy, and there is nothing wrong with your machine.

    Astaro programmers!  What is the explanation for this?

    Strangely, FTP does show up in the QoS service pick list, and that is a two port service.

    Service group definitions, with their curly brackets, also appear in the list, so for a modest range of ports, you could always define the ports individually, and then make a service group of them all, as a workaround.

    Thank you!...I am not going crazy after all.... :-)

    I will try defining the port range services as single services per port and make a service group...

    I'll report back results...

    I defined the services individually and made my QOS rules based on service....it seems to be working well...

    I'll post if I have any hiccups...

    The help [?] in Network -> QoS says :

    Service: this is the service to match in this rule. Only the destination part of the service is used for matching. Only services NOT containing a port range are shown, with FTP being the exception.
