Some Question perhaps someone can help me

Morning,

i have now installed Astaro V4 successfully.

First question:
Can I use a DSL Router bevore the Firewall?When how should i configure these extern LANcard?

Second Question:
Must i activate Proxy service HTTP tzo surf in the Internet?
Or also can makes Paket Filter Rules so that i can say
Workstation to Any HTTP as a rule?

Third Question:
How does the Paket Filter works?I have set up an Proxy and make a rule for my Workstation that i only can use HTTP's, but it don't work.

If u need more infromations tell me please!

    Yes you can, i was duing it for years. You can set a fix ip internal for the router and connect there astaro.

    INTERNET --- DSL routeter --- astaro 
    public IP     -- NAT   192.168.x.x --- 192.168.x.y with gateway 192.168.x.x

    Not necessarely, you can surf without proxy, you just need to set the appropiate rules on the interfaces to let internal network do http and https to world.

    If you can get a static IP address from your ISP, I would recommend using a bridge mode ADSL modem rather than a router with the subnet between this and the Astaro box. That way, the external interface of the Astaro box can have the public IP address assigned by the ISP.

    Using the subnetted method means you can loose some functionality if that ADSL router does not provide it (VPN, PPTP/IPSEC  passthru etc). Also, seems a bit of a waste spending the money on a decent ADSL router when a cheap bridging modem will - in my opionion - be better.
