WinXP PPTP MTU:1396

Hi,

when establishing a pptp-Connection over WLAN from a WXP-Client to ASTARO4.0X MTU-Size is always set to 1396:

ppp0      Link encap[:P]oint-to-Point Protocol
          inet addr:192.168.1.1  P-t-P:192.168.1.2  Mask:255.255.255.255
UP POINTOPOINT RUNNING NOARP MULTICAST  MTU:1396  Metric:1
          RX packets:1695 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 frame:0
          TX packets:1814 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 carrier:0
          collisions:0 txqueuelen:3

because of this, I think, I'm not able to open http://www.gmx.net for example. The connection is very slow and almost 40 percent of the connections over Paket-Filter-Rules failed!
I've tried Dr.Tcp and similar, but now i think the WinXP PPTP MTU-Size is not changeable. Is this behavior becaues of an bug in ASTARO pptp or WinXP pptp?

Please Help!
Joachim

  • ok, but for a VPN-Connection there's no key in Registry.
I've tried to change the value with the SetMTu-Utility from Cisco, but there's no Entry for the VPN-Connection to choose. Only an Entry "Dial-Up Networking" is there. Is this the valid Entry?
