Remote control through NAT

Do you control the firewall at your work place? Are you sure that port is actually getting to your firewall at home? Check the live logs on the astaro see if you ever see the connection hit the box or not.  

You can do the same trick I suggested on another post just now: telnet external interface 4899, and see if it comes back right away with a reset or if it sits there for a while trying to negotiate the connection. This is not conclusive, because some firewalls will 'blackhole' a socket connection and humor you with a timeout. But if you come back with a quick reset, you know it's not getting to where it's going.

If it turns out to be firewalling at the workplace, remap to 80 (if you're not hosting a web server; if you are, use another well known port that you're not using that is unlikely to be firewalled at work). OK, enough 2600 tips for now...
  

I have been able to connect to my home computer without the firewall i've recently installed. Yes, my work has got a firewall, but my remote prog. has been able too connect through port 4899.

I also had a friend who tried connecting to my computer from his home computer. He got an I/O error (The errorcode didnt say much more than that).

I mean, i've got my FTP to work with this setup as I have previously shown. Am I missing something? 

Should I Make a NAT that begins within my internal network like:

Source: R_Admin_client
Destination: Internal Interface
Service: R_admin
Change Dest: Any

And no, I don't control the firewall @ my work.  
I will try to telnet from work....

You've already got the right NAT/packet filter I would definitely try the telnet thing and see if you get a connect screen or not.

I think i've solved the problem myself, after some searching on the internet for a solution I found out that R_admin uses both TCP _and_ UDP on the same port. I've only allowed TCP traffic through that port   

Will try this when I get home.

Yeah, I know, but when I set the rules above, I got an I/O error, which could mean that it tried to use the UDP port but wasn't allowed... 

That was the solution, the program used both UDP and TCP and I only allowed TCP traffic.

You could also set up PPTP road warrior access and then remote control your machines through the PPTP link. Prevents having to allow that port to be open.
