Problems with SMTP proxy

I am gettign the following error:

user@mydomain.com R=static T=remote_smtp defer (-53): retry time not reached for any host

What am I mssing in the configs to cause this?

    the error "retry time not reached for any host" leads me to wonder if you are allowing DNS out?  IE: your proxy server can't figure out what mail.domain.com's IP is so it can't reach any of the hosts in the list.


    this is just a complete wild guess.  I don't use smtp proxy.  DNS port is 53.

    This isn't the error message.  This message just says that there was an error (a while ago) but not so long ago that the proxy will try again yet. 

    You should look further back in the log for the real error.
