DNS is lost or dropped for some users. ?? Help

I have been using Astaro Linux as a registered user for about 1 year and have been very happy with it.  

I have a situation where I have routed two IP's to one redhat 7.3 box using NAT.  I have several subdomains pointed at these IP addresses.  

I can access the redhat box fine using the IP addresses and the domain names, and so can my associates in Belgium. 

However, I have an associate in America who is unable to access the box using the domain names, and can only access the box using the IP's.  He is using IE 6.0, with win 2k.  

Does anyone have any ideas why this is or how to fix this problem?  The IP's behind my firewall are private addresses, is it possible his firewall is prevening the nat from taking place?  It should be invisible to him so I am really confused.  Could there be a DNS problem somewhere?

I appreciate it if anyone has any ideas on this.

    Definately a name server problem, and likely nothing to do with your ASL box unless you are hosting your own DNS behind the ASL box and don't have the proper packet filter rules to allow DNS traffic in and out of the ASL box.

    Several ways to trouble shoot this, first thing is to have him drop to a command prompt in Win2k (cmd.exe) and run nslookup.

    Do a lookup for the domain in question and see if it's just timing out, or possibly if it's stale data and pointing to the wrong IP address.  Also, if your associates in Belgium are all using the same (private) DNS server, it could be that no one else in the world can resolve those names either.

    If it is the end user, and he does have a stale DNS record, at the cmd prompt "ipconifg /flushdns" might work for him, if it's cached locally.

    If you want more help, why don't you post the domain name in question, and we can quickly determine if name resolution is set up correctly for those domains.

    Thanks for your advise.  The domain name in question is tcia.e-tci.com.  It is a domain name I want to use to test the development version of a website, there is nothing there yet accept a hello page.

    Takes me to a page that says:

    "hello tcia"

    The resolved IP is 64.62.134.229

    The name resolution is being served by ns1.mydomain.com (and ns2,ns3,ns4).

    Everything appears to be in order.  I would suggest that if the end user is still having issues, that it seems to be a local issue for him.
