Simple QoS/Traffic Shaping How-To?

Hi there!

Sorry if this has been covered somewhere else - my lame searching skills always let me down  [:(]

I have a very simple network. Cable modem into Astaro router, then router into hub, and about 6 other "client" machines into the hub aswell.

What I can't figure out is how to limit users from taking up all the bandwidth  [:S]despread.

    Hi Midgetman,

    you can use the QoS-Feature for that.

    First Enable QoS for a NIC: Network->Interfaces->Edit->Advanced Features

    Then define some rules:
    Network->Quality of Service (QoS)
    Have a look into the Online-Help

    Note: You can limit outgoing Traffic only.

    After that, if you have some more detailt questions, don't hesitate to ask [;)].

    Wow. I didn't know you could only limit outgoing traffic  [:(]

    Kinda eliminates the point, since the upload stream is normally flatlined on the network usage graph (well, not really but you get the point =D )

    I'll give it a go anyway, just for the learning experience.  [;)]
