QOS with DSL

Hello, 

does anyone use a valid configuration for asymetric DSL lines and Qualitity of Service ? We are connected with a 256/512 Kbit Line and I would like to lower the priority for FTP packets. Right now, all connections to our FTP Server is slowing down the whole internet access from the internal network a lot.

     192.168.0.* (about 10 clients)
    --> 192.168.0.5 (FTP Server. also the DHCP/DNS Server)

    right now, NAT is working fine. Incoming connections on port 20,21 are forwarded to the FTP Server.  Works fine, but when connected, the other clients have a very poor network connection)

    So, I would like to reduce the priority of the FTP packets.

    OK, understood the problem. 
    If you can set your FTP Server to only use a fixed port (range) for the data connection, it is possible to limit that.
    Enable QoS, set your Interface BW to 256k and  the unshaped BW to the rate your users should have _in every case_. Then just set a QoS Rule on the outgoing interface (for the ftp data), and it will be limited to (256k-unshapedBW) if you set it to 'dont borrow'. If you set it to borrow, it will use the unshaped BW dynamically (if not used by other services).
