pop3 setup

Is there any setup to get pop3 to pass throu ASL? I'm using version 4, and ms outlook 2000. When i try to recieve mail i get "TCP/IP connection was unexpectedly terminated by server"

[edit] I disabled Norton AV's email protection and the error changed to "unable to connect to server" Still lookin for help[/edit]
I am still kinda new to this, i do not run any servers ATM. Also i can't seem to ping any where outside my network from behind the astaro box. I can ping from the astaro box but not from behind it. My http proxy is working fine. Any ideas for me? need more info just ask.

please tell us more details about your setup...

- do you have a masq-rule? packetfilterrule? (for your internal network)
- what's your client configuration?
- is there an error in the logfile?
- most important: which version do you use?

my only mas rule is this:
Internal_Network__ -> All / All MASQ__WAN None
---
client config is MSoutlook, pop3(non secure)
Static ip 192.168.1.xxx
net mask 255.255.255.0
no def gateway

What about your Packet filter rules? You got none? By definition everything is blocked from the Firewall as long as you dont permit it. Maybe you want to try to allow any traffic from internal to any in packet filter rule to test it...

Althou i believe that i read somewhere in the docs that ICMP fowarding happens before packet filters..coorect me if i'm wrong.

Did you define a default gateway on your client pc?

If not, add the internal network ip of your firewall as
the default gateway of your client.
