All trafic stops in ASL 4.0

All trafic stops through the ASL 4.0 when I run an mpeg-file from a mapped networkdrive on DMZ

I have been runnning ASL 3.2 for about 6 month with absolutly no problems but since I have installed ASL 4.0 for about two weeks ago I have been forced to restart the ASL 4.0 at least 5 times since the trafic through ASL 4.0 stop completly with no regular frequency and no clue.

Now I have found a way to reproduce the problem I just have to run an mpeg-file that is lying on an server on the DMZ.

When I do this the ASL 4.0 stops to respond completly even the webadmin is not responding.

The webadmin has been reponding the times before this so I could use the restartcommand.

This time I couldn´t use webadmin or login on the console.

This is the messages I got in the log
Mar  6 21:46:27 (none) kernel: eth2: Abnormal interrupt, status 00000020.
Mar  6 21:46:28 (none) kernel: eth2: Abnormal interrupt, status 00002020.

I haven´t seen anything that points to an hardwareproblem
and the machine workes fine with ASL 3.2

It seems to be several post about problem with trafic thats stops through the ASL 4.0 ....

Is someone working on this problem ??

    what kind of network cards are you using?

    I´m using three RealTek 8139 but I have seen several posts that seems to have the same problem but are using different nics ex:3com.

    Magnus,

    login as root and change rtl8139 in /etc/modules.conf
    to 8139too. You can use either vi or joe as editor.
    Rebooting is the easiest way to activate the new settings.


    Please let us know if that solves the problem.

    I have change the nic driver to 8139too.
    In the begining it seemed like it had solved the problem.

    But after some hours of testing copying large files to a server on DMZ all trafic through the ASL 4.0 stoped execept from the server copying files.

    I could not log into either the webadmin or the console.

    So the problem seems still to be there but it took longer time to reproduce it.

    I used to have a RealTek 8139 for my DMZ but transfering large files wouldn't work, change the driver to 8139too but didn't help, changed the nic to a 3com and now it works

    I also have had similar problems. Does anyone from Astaro care to respond as to what is being done to resolve this in an update maybe? Rtl8139's seem to be a popular card in the linux world. So I would think someone would like to correct this rather then everyone replacing there cards.

    I got several of these kind of mail from the ASL when it looked like no trafic went through.

    I have the same problem. Should I change NIC? What kind should I use?

    Seems like a lot of problems with 3-bomb (3Com) nics and Realtek.  I've been using Intel Pro 100's with great success.  Also Compex cards with the famous DEC Tulip chipset work wonderfully.

    Could be that somebody needs this information. I had two NIC with chip RTL8139 installed. 

    eth0 RTL8139C 05348TQ (048B TAIWAN)
    eth1 RTL8139B 02523A1 (010F TAIWAN)

    eth1 worked but I had a lot of problems with eth0. I replaced both NICs with 3C905 100Base TX and 79c970 PCnet32 AMD.

    At the moment everything is working fine.
