have very big problem with multi vlan switch and

have very big problem with multi vlan switch and multihoming ip in internal nic.

i have encounter this problem and is very hard for me not using this can someone help me please is very importante thx in advance.

this is my probelm , i have make under swicth layer 3 allied telesyn rapier 48i multi vlan . have put ASL in a VLAN ID SERVER.
when my client are in the same VLAN as asl my client can easyli access internet , but wen put client in other vlan as ASL a have my ip from dhcp server from win2K server wich are in the same vlan as ASL , i can ping and tracert server WIN2K in same vlan as ASL. but can't ping ASL internal nic can't go in internet.
i have correctly put the default rout in switch layer .
please please astaro guys help me i have an professionnel licence? maybe is an incompatibility with 802.1q from switch to ASL when using vlan .
i need to use multi vlan cause i'm install an metropolitan network.

i have put multihomming ip in asl internal nic , one per VLAN for gateway? have all be tested and working.
but when make test from other vlan where ne be in the vlan of asl is not working.
if need more info i can give it . sorry for my bad english i'm french. if are french user guys of asl please contact me if you can help me is very important for my job ;o(((

    hey maybe have resov this issue .
    i have read the new asl doc aslV4.
    i think because i have switch vlan i need a nic ethenet card with 802.1Q function. going to test the new aslV4 with an 3C905B-tx card
    i report my test for other professionel user using this or want to use the feature as vlan switch .

    thx for all report can help me in this.
    astaro admin can you report me if i(m true on this and report me your test in switched vlan. thx a lot for all

    abilio,

    first of all you have to differ between tagged and untagged ports on your switch. a tagged port will wait for packets which are already 802.1q tagged, which means the host connected to this port does this tagging by himself. you'll need a vlan-capable driver on this host to do so (e.g. Intel ProSet for intel cards on windows). a tagged port can be homed in more than one vlan...

    untagged ports are for 'normal' hosts without knowledge about vlans, tagging etc. .. tagging is done by the switch, to keep communication between tagged an untagged hosts up and running...

    that ok i have found my problem is not a big problem .
    to make vlan switch working without 802.1Q card in asl.
    just untagged the port on the vlan where is the ASL.
    create in network section the static ip of the gateway of the VLAN where is asl and make a static route for it .
    that all be ok .
    make the same for all the network VLAN and make routing from vlan to default gateway where is the asl .
    exemple  VLANUSER1>GATEWAY of asl vlan
    make this for all vlan [:)]
    with the default gateway in asl is the external nic .
    if one guy need other explications no problem reply in this post an a reply to it

    I have tried it in 7.1 and for some reasons it don’t seem to work.
    I have to split my Switch (HP 5400) to 10 Vlans.
    Each Vlan in deferent Subnet, and all the workstations in all 10 Vlans, has to get the DHCP from one DHCP Server.
    Has any one tried it lately?

    Can you give the routing, you can access it through ssh and type route, and can you give me the addressing. Last time I have the same problem...Let me see if I can help you

    Can the ASL even do Scoped DHCP? If you add a dhcp server for a subnet that doesn't have a corresponding interface, will it hand out IP to a relay agent from that network?

    Sorry for the delay.
    I was extremely busy (also by trying to find solution for this problem).
    For now, I have managed to connect to DHCP and it seems to work great.
    Every VLAN gets its own IP according to its VLAN.
    Main LAN : 10.100.0.0/16
    VLAN 1: 10.110.0.0/24
    VLAN 2 : 10.120.0.0/24
    Since my Main Switch is HP Procurve 5406 I consult HP Expert in order to configure the switch right.
    The switch is layer 3, and doing all the routing between the VLANs by itself, so I don’t have to use Tagged VLANS.
    Theoretically, as I understand it, all I hade to do is configure ASTARO routing -
    Standard Static Routes->Gateway route -> VLAN 2 (Network) -> Main Switch (Gateway).  
    And add the VLANS to “Allowed Networks” in the DNS/

    NOW I have a very strange behavior.
    From within the Vlans , I can ping the firewall, I’m getting  IP resolving for External IPs, BUT I cannot get out.
    We have tried all we could think of – disable all kind of protection which might block it.
    All sort of routing and configuration – Nothing!!!
    According to the HP Expert this configuration works great with Checkpoint, and he think it has something to do with the ASTARO.

    Any Idea???
