logical route

Hi there,

sometimes i'm in trouble when i try to understand do's and dont's.
Are there any docs which tell about the logical construct of asl?
i.e. when a packet travels from internal to external, which instance comes first?
rules? nat? proxy?
and where is the dmz?
Is this construct the same with all (linux) firewalls?

Would be great to get a hint!

allan
