Broadcast?

According to manual p.98/99, some rules help to drop internet-wide broadcast & segment-wide broadcast... is it necessary? And what's the effect without drop such broadcast? Thanks!

It will just add a lot of clutter to your logs. Possibly obscuring more important details. Plus it's just a mess.
