The other night, I received a pop-up Messenger Service with the following:
"
Message from MALLORY-HI! to ***.***.***.*** on 11/24/2002 4:41:08 AM
Register for free and look me up under my username "lovergirlinTX" on XXXXXXXXX.COM and send me an email!!!! I have some extra pictures that I can email to you if you're what I'm looking for....(;
"
My IP and the URL of the site are removed for security/spam reasons.
My question is this: How is this allowed through the firewall? Is this a netbios protocol? It was obviously sent from the internet to the IP of the firewall, which then somehow propogated through it to the PC's behind it. It didn't pop up on all the PC's, only one that I know of (WinXP). It both annoyed and scared me that Messenger Service is routable (problem with MS, not Astaro)
Does anyone have any suggestions/tips? Soon after, I blocked all netbios extranet traffic, so hopefully that will stop most of the issues.
