port forward FTP server

I have an FTP server on my internal network and want to know if there is a way I can do some kind of port forwarding?

My bro sez it can't be done, I don't believe him. He also sez that the only way to do it is DMZ, I don't mind if its insecure I only want to run the rule for a week or so.

he is wrong....it can be done but is a bit tricky though

Thanks, I'll look that over this week. Does this method compromise security?

Today my connection (PPPoE) went down and I tried SSH'ing and doing an ifconfig ppp0 down ifconfig ppp0 up but it didn't work [:(]

Restarting worked like a charm, is there a better way?

concerning the security issue...i dont think so since a client never connects directly to your FTPd.....as far as I know

the other problem....my best solution is restarting the machine. probably not the best way but I dont know anything else
