I was having some problems with ASL and our all-mac intosh network. The DHCP server would give out addresses, but sometimes was slow to do so... Users would complain of no network access (and would have an address of 169.XXX) which is the apple default no ip addresss. If the user was to wait for two or three minutes, they would get a valid IP - usually. If lots of users had this problem we would restart Astaro, and then it was fine...
Not the best solution really.
When I took a look at the SYSLOG files I captured there were plenty of REQUEST, OFFER and ACK - often repeated many times from the machines on the network.
I set up a Mac OSXS server today to give out DHCP addresses - in a different range AS WELL AS the astaro. Not one single machine took an address from the Astaro box.
Any ideas on this one? Does the DHCP server have some troubles giving out addresses? Is there something about Macs that make this a little more difficult?
