sample rules

Hi @ll,

I just installed the latest Version of astaro, being a home user with just some workstations to protect. I'm quite new to firewalling and so, I'm not really sure wheather I understood the functions correctly.
Everything works fine so far...
I hope someone could have a look at my rules, that I created!?  my rules
daHood is set up as:
daHood 192.168.0.0 255.255.255.0

my Interfaces are these two:

WEB   PPP over Ethernet (DSL) connection   assign (dynamic) eth1 [ 3Com Corporation |..|link] ]

eth0   Standard ethernet interface   192.168.0.1 (Static) eth0 [ Realtek Semicondu|..|-8139 ]


I set up masquerading as:

DAS_HOOD   eth0_Network__ -> All / All   MASQ__WEB

Rules have to be defined 2 way.

You might want to make it:

ANY HTTP ANY etc...

NAT should give u a fair degree of protection anyway.

That is not correct in Ray's scenario [;)]n fact, correct.

Ray,
I would also recommend researching how the HTTP, DNS and SOCKS proxies would help you here as well.

both of you, thank you very much for your help! I was just a bit confused as I had a look at the rules-config of the online-Demo...
And my config worked fine from the beginning, so I was afraid, I had opened far too much [;)]

I will certainly have a a look at socks!
