DNS proxy unable to get out

Hi,
I have a valid DNS server set as the forwarding name server.

However, in the packet filter livelog, I am seeing that the DNS proxy is unable to get out for itself.
E.g.
13:07:28 146.12.60.60 32911 -> 128.8.10.90 53 UDP
keeps appearing in the livelog.

1. ASL doesn't seem to be using the forwarding NS I've told it to use.
Why?

2. ISTM that it SHOULD be able to contact the ROOT NS's if it needs to, and it's not.
Maybe this should be an option in case the forwarding NS's go down.

Thanks,
Barry

  • Actually, I had already upgraded to 3.205 when I noticed the problem.

    Rebooting seems make a difference:
    now, I don't see anything in packetfilter livelog, and ASL is using forwarding nameserver.

    However, if I down the forwarding nameserver, ASL gives up. It doesn't seem to be trying to contact the root nameservers. I think this needs to be an option, otherwise using a forwarding nameserver is too risky (esp if I only have one).

    Thanks,
    Barry
