URL not accessible from LAN

Behind our Firewall we have three different network segments. In one of them is our web-server. It has an external IP and and internal IP and we do a changeover with DNAT.

The problem now is, that we cannot contact the webserver from our LAN wich is in an other network-segment with it´s external IP e.o. URL (www....), only with the internal IP. So we cannot use the www.-Adress.

Did we make an error at the configuration of the firewall or is this a known problem.

    No, thats a common problem with NAT. You have two options:

    1. Setup a HOSTS file on each machine on the internal network and put the domain name www.etc with the internal IP address

    2. Setup an internal DNS server and reference internal servers using their internal IP addresses then point all your clients at the internal DNS server.
