Hi, I am about to get a DSL line with ethernet presentation, and will be needing a firewall. I had a toy around tonight with an old box I had lying around, managed to get it up, but I have a couple of questions, not all regarding astaro per se, just how things are done in general.
(ETH1)_ROUTER_(ETH0)-----(ETH1)_FIREWALL_(ETH0)----SWITCH
ETH1 of the router will be Ethernet presentation PPP over ATM
Unfortunately I will not have admin rights to the router, but I can put my own one in place (not sure they will give me any support tho)
so, now that the topology is out the way, the first question...
A common setup would be thus ?
ROUTER ETH0 : 192.168.0.1 255.255.255.252
FIREWALL ETH0 : 193.195.220.145 255.255.255.240 (My public range)
FIREWALL ETH1 : 192.168.0.2 255.255.255.252
giving a transitory network between router ETH0 and Firewall ETH1.
But if I don't have control of the router, how do I do it ? Does Astaro support PPPoA and could act as my router too ? Failing that, how would I set it up ?
thus ?
ROUTER ETH0 : 193.195.220.145
FIREWALL ETH0 : 193.195.220.147
FIREWALL ETH1 : 193.195.220.146
Any help would be appreciated, don't worry about bombarding me with technical stuff, I used to work as a leased line installs engineer, I'm just a bit rusty is all
thanks
