Oracle Net8 Problems

I need to setup a client connection to an Oracle 8i db protected by Astaro. The Oracle server is using 10.10.x.x private/NAT translation behind astaro with public IP address. I opened incoming port 1521, set DNAT/SNAT and can tnsping the server, but no sqlplus connection possible. The packet filter violation log is listing many higher ports for the communication back to client machine. I set up the rules so the incoming Net8 is port 1521 but responses can come back over any port from the Oracle server to client. Anyone got this to work? FYI, I am using lsnr password and protocol.ora to limit what IP addresses can connect.

Make sure your Oracle client can resolve the Oracle server's host name, as the server's host name is passed to the client during the initial connection.
