Netbios(137) lookup from ASL Firewall to Win98 Clients.

Hi,
I want to do a netbios lookup to port 137 (netbios-ns) from my ASL firewall to different Win98 computers on my subnet. I'm planning to use a tools from SAMBA (nmblookup) to find netbios name on these Win98 computers, but it is not allowed to do this kind of lookup from my ASL firewall (1.825). Does anyone out there have any suggestion ?? (I have added rules to allow netbios (traffic) from ASL Firewall to local subnet, without any success.) Any tip ??   [:S]

    I do have a wins server, but I want to do netbios-name lookup directly from my ASL-box, because of special log function (portscan attempt, etc. recorded with both ip-number and netbios-name from computers on my localnet). It's a hack, maybe I'm in a wrong forum ??

    I don't recommend messing with your Astaro box unless you are a badass.

    I especially don't recommend putting any sort of smb oriented stuff on it.  It is a dedicated firewall and in my opinion shouldn't have services added to it like that.  Unless you fully understand the inner workings of the things you are talking about you can easily make your box useless as a security device.

    I would recommend finding a different way to do your logging and name resolution.

    DNS is the way to go over WINS in my opinion.
