It is possible to install a third party dynamic DNS client on an ASL installation, or even better has someone actually attempted this?
To explain further, I've got a cable modem installation at home, together with a spare x86 machine which is within the spec for an ASL box.
My cable provider assigns me an IP address via DHCP, which from searching thru the messages posted here, shouldn't be a problem.
I'm seriously considering signing up for a Dynamic DNS provider, such as No-IP (www.no-ip.com) who provide the source for a client which sits on a firewall box and when my assigned IP changes updates their name server to reflect the change. A binary drop of the client is also provided but currently is RedHat only.
From what I've read, ASL will serve all my needs wrt NAT and firewalling, but I'm really keen to use my registered domain @ home.
So, at least as far as I can see, I need to i) be able to build the client natively on ASL and ii) be able to install it and get it up and running.
Is this a realistic proposition? Any suggestions gratefully received.
