NAT & Virtual IP Addresses

Don't take my word for it, but I think you're out of luck here. 

I think there is no way you can dnat one host/port to a range of hosts/port. 

The technique you are using to run different IIS servers looks like the way I learned to do it in IIS version 3 or something. And I believe it is an old approach these days (ip shortage and all you know  [:)] ).

What I'm trying to get at...is that apache nowadays can use name based virtual hosting, where the client sends a host string that the web server uses to identify the different virtual hosts instead of the IP based virtual hosting.

Perhaps IIS can do name based virtual hosting too? I had a little look, but I didn't find anything.

Something tells me that you may have to use IIS for something. If not all the recent exploits in IIS havent made you want to switch to apache, perhaps this will?  ;-)

I have 254 Public IP address and want to use these.  I did read the article regarding virtual addressing instead of using IP's but this won't work at the moment.  We have to stay with IIS because its integrated with Coldfusion !  So tell me  ... Do I have any chance of making this work ?  The server only has 1 physical network card but 20 public IP's, we want to put this behind firewall and convert it to Private address and then DNAT the ports back.  As I mentioned in the previous post.
Any help on this matter is much appreciated.

Someone else mentioned it earlier, that you can set up 20 IP aliases on the external interface.
DNAT each of them to the relevant virtual IP's on the web host.

If I was you however, I'd consider splitting the class C into two parts, using one in a DMZ (where I'd place this W2K server) and the rest on the secure LAN.

Hi there,

I know IIS well so I can help you if you want to.
I'm just not quite sure what you want to achieve, if you want to host multiple sites on one IP thats real easy if you're using at least IIS 4. The only limitation is that the site Needs a unique IP if you're running multiple SSL sites but if it's just basic sites youi're home free.

What you need to do is (for each site) get the properties and on the first tab (General) you click advanced and edit the entry and add a host header (NOT Http headers.. HOST headers). The syntax of a host header is what you would type in your browser i.e. www.mysite.com .

If you do that several sites can use the same IP, all you nbeed client wise is http1.1 support, which is just about everything above IE 2.0.
