Everything but NETBIOS working?

Hey, I'm new to ASL, but I think it's great.  I've got everything working that I need except one thing.  I can't map drives in my NT domain.  I can ping my PDC and access other TCP services on the private LAN.  I can even connect to my Exchange server.  I've got a private lan in 192.168.2.* IPs with a subnet mask of 255.255.0.0.  I have PPTP clients connecting as 192.168.3.*/255.255.255.0.  When they try to map a drive, they get an error saying that the share can't be found.  Also, maybe this is why my NT/SAM authentication won't work either?  BTW... I've got proxy-ARP enabled on the internal interface...

    do you connect via computer-names? connect the shares with IPs: \10.10.10.10\xyz-share...

    when using names you have to install an wins-server, or an pdc-win2000-dns server. this
    dns-server must be the first in your tcp-settings.

    then it would work.

    I tried both via NetBIOS names and direct to the IPs.  I have a WINS server ON the PDC and my clients have the WINS server IP set up in the connection settings...  I can ping via both numer and NetBIOS names to the IP...

    first of all, I don't understand why you are supernetting a class C range (using 255.255.0.0 with 192.168.* is called supernetting - as 255.255.255.0 is the default mask)

    If you don't have any special intention with supernetting, you should stick to 255.255.255.0 as netmask.

    Why have you enabled proxy arp in the first place? Also - I'd guess that you need proxy arp enabled on two interfaces to actually do some proxying... (but I haven't used this feature - so this is purely theoretical).

    Can you give me some more info on the topology here? Is the ASL betweenthe 192.168.2.* and 192.168.3.* networks? Or do you connect through ASL somehow - to PPTP on the PDC?
    Would be nice to see how things are hooked up to eachother. Just remember not to publish more ip-info than we need.

    Well, the supernetting is done because it was setup before I started working on this network.  So, in the interest of uptime and such I left it.  The proxy arp was enabled in an attempt to get SOMETHING working, and not necessarily enabled because I need it.  Somehow, magically everything started working, so I don't really know what happened.  I went to sleep and woke up and it was working.  I didn't touch a thing.  VERY weird.  However, I still cannot do the PPTP VPN authentication against the NT4.0 PDC SAM.  However, I read somewhere else on this buletin board that SAM authentication only worked for the HTTP proxy?
