I am evaluating Windows XP's messanger features. In a document by Microsoft, it states that it works with a UPnP NAT enabled firewall. I have never heard of this. I know Astaro does not have this because it says it will detect the firewall automatically. My question is, " Is this a Microsoft created setup or is this a platform independent way of solving issues with Netmeeting & the like in a NAT environment?"
The only other solution is to open ports 5000 - 65535 and I don't see myself doing that anytime soon.
