okay guys, big prob. maybe a bug?

The proxy took over all data packets meant for master. In other words, when I did a 'ping master' instead of seeing the ip as 172.16.0.6 it saw it as the proxy's outside ip 209.177.207.71. Well, now that you have the background, here's the problem. I deleted the entry, and it STILL kept doing it. I rebooted both boxes, just to make sure, hacked around on the filesystem trying to find the file it stores the alias info in, couldn't find it. But as soon as i threw on the old proxy system, it went back to normal. I'm stumped on this one. And as a side note, how can I convert my old ipchains firewall and use it on this iptables firewall? THANK YOU for the help! I GREATLY appricate it!
