Problem with NAT and IP Alias

Hi,

I have multiple servers in my DMZ which i have DNATed and given IP aliases as i am running multiple web servers etc. It works fine from internal-DMZ but i have strange problems with external-DMZ.

If i contact the 'actual' IP of the external interface from the internet, everything works as expected. However if i contact an alias it does not exist!

The strange thing is if try to contact the IP alias from a machine on the hub that links the ASL box external interface to the Router, (which is directly on the internet with a internet IP) everything works fine with the alias. It is as if the router is messing something up, and blocking something, or i have my ASL set up wrong (most likley!!!)? Anyone 'outside' of my router can't see the alias. [:S]

Any ideas?

Hi,

IP Aliase would not be routet by your ISP (privat ip adress). The only ip that is routed by your ISP is your actual ip (static/dynamic) aka (hostroute).

I managed to get it working, what i did was change the gateway on the interfaces page from my router to a made up ip, save the changes, then change it back to my router again. Everything now appears to be fine, something must have been messed up.

Hi,

Just to let anyone looking at these posts know that problem was solved by rebooting the router. It was just very lazy in updating it's ARP cache.
