Routing problem

I am trying to set up the following environment.

I have an internal network of 172.16.1.0/24 with the internal card of my astaro box having the IP 172.16.1.1/24

I also have an internal router with IP 172.16.1.2  This router is used to connect to a remote network 172.17.1.0/24

I am trying to set a route statement on the firewall to route all packages from network 172.16.1.0/24 going to 172.17.1.0/24 via the router with ip 172.16.1.2/24

I am trying to avoid adding route statements on the each machine on network 172.16.1.0/24 that needs to talk to servers on the remote network (172.17.1.0/24).

I would also like to setup a rule allowing full communication between network 172.16.1.0/24 to network 172.17.1.0/24

    Hi cfire,

    first define the networks you want to route to your internal router.
    Second is to add the static routes in
    NETWORK/ROUTING.
    Third define filters allowing traffic
    from you internal network to your routed
    subnet.

    The mechanism is easy:
    First packet of your clients will be
    directed to your internal router at the
    same time ASL sends your client an icmp redirect packet with the ip address of
    the responsible router for that subnet.
    Now the clients sends packets directly.

    Do I need to reboot the firewall for the route statements to take effect???  I have added the route statements but when ever I do traceroute, the firewall still tries to go out using the default gateway

    Help!!!!!!!!!!!!!
